Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Intensive Care Medicine at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein is a certified Chest Pain Center and a Provider of Maximum Care and for patients with heart and blood vessel diseases. The facility offers the full range of care for diseases of the cardiac muscle, cardiac valves as well as cardiac rhythm disorders. The angiology department has achieved impressive results in the field of coronary heart disease as a modern facility with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Norbert Frey, over 4,360 inpatients receive interdisciplinary conservative and surgical care every year.
The research unit of the department provides the latest findings of research for patients to gain the benefits of modern scientific findings. The scientific institution works closely with many leading facilities at the national and international levels within the framework of the National Genome Research Network on ongoing research projects such as the causes of cardiac muscle diseases and cardiac muscle weakness.
