Department of Vascular Surgery

Department of Vascular Surgery at University Hospital RWTH Aachen provides the surgical interventions needed by patients with blood vessel diseases. 
To ensure patients get the best possible treatment, the department is in cooperation with radiologists and angiologists. This department was awarded the title of the European Reference Center for Aortic Pathologies for its efforts in the aortic aneurysms field.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Jacobs, more than 700 inpatients are treated in the department every year. It’s one of the leading hospitals for aortic aneurysms and carotid stenosis. More than 175 procedures a year are performed solely for carotid stenosis. Venous surgery for varicose veins is also one of the main concerns that this department excels in.
