Department of Urology at University Hospital Mainz provides care to patients with acute and chronic diseases of the urinary and male genital systems. The department has special attention directed towards oncological diseases of the urinary system, benign prostatic hyperplasia, kidney stones, and bladder dysfunction. The department is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics which allows it to offer optimal care for patients.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Axel Haferkamp, the department treats more than 4,000 inpatients and 10,000 outpatients every year. The department works in close cooperation with other departments such as Departments of Nephrology, Radiation Oncology, and Radiotherapy and offers modern surgical techniques and equipment such as da Vinci surgery and keyhole surgery. Due to the high-quality service the department is also certified by the German Society of Continence and ISO 9001: 2008.
