Department of Infectology at University Hospital Mainz provides care for patients with infectious and sexually transmitted diseases. The department offers the latest techniques for diagnosis and treatment of various infectious diseases and mainly focuses on diseases such as tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and HIV infection.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Martin Sprinzl, the department works as per the international guidelines and treats over 1,000 inpatients every year. The research unit of the department is involved in basic research, experimental and clinical trials of infectious diseases and is constantly enhancing its vaccines.
