Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Mainz provides care for pregnant women, females during and after their reproductive period as well as newborns. The department has special attention directed toward breast cancer as it treats over 300 breast cancer patients annually. It is also certified by the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics as it is equipped with the latest, most advanced diagnostics and therapeutics to ensure optimal care for patients with tumors of the reproductive female organs. 
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Annette Hasenburg, the department treats over 5,000 inpatients every year. The department is a recognized Level I Perinatal Center where pregnancy management, childbirth and postpartum care for both the mother and baby are offered. The head of the department, Dr. Hasenburg, is ranked among the best doctors of her field for the year 2018 by FOCUS Magazine. The department is highly specialized in safe childbirth as its delivery rooms are supplied with the latest equipment to grant the mother and infant the best suitable care. About 1,400 deliveries are carried out yearly at the department by highly specialized doctors and medical staff.
