Department of Endocrinology, Metabolic Disorders and Diabetology

Department of Endocrinology, Metabolic Disorders, and Diabetology at University Hospital Mainz provides care for patients with diseases of the endocrine glands and pancreas. Concerns of the department include thyroid, pituitary, adrenal gland's hormonal imbalance, osteoporosis, lipid metabolism disorders, endocrine, and neuroendocrine tumors.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Matthias Weber, the department treats more than 1,000 inpatients every year. The department has a main focus on diabetes mellitus and its complications. The department is certified by the German Diabetes Society as the national Diabetes Center for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2 as well as diabetic foot syndrome. The department is also a member of the Vascular Center of the University Hospital Mainz and the Center of Excellence for Neuroendocrine Tumors.
