Department of Dermatology at University Hospital Mainz provides care for patients with allergic, inflammatory, infectious and neoplastic diseases of the skin. The department consists of 45 beds divided into 2 wards for inpatients and outpatients. The department is the only dermatology clinic in the Rhineland-Palatinate and one of the biggest facilities in the Rhineland-Main area. The medical staff of the department is composed of 5 professors, 8 senior physicians, 15 specialists and medical assistants, who all are qualified and experienced to diagnose and treat skin diseases.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Stephan Grabbe, the department treats more than 2,500 inpatients every year, nearly 1,000 of which are diagnosed with some type of skin cancer. The Skin Cancer Center of the department is in cooperation with the surrounding hospitals and specialized tumor therapy centers to ensure each patient gets their own, tailor-made management plan. The department works under the guidance of the University Center for Tumor Disease.
