Department of Pediatric Surgery at University Hospital Leipzig provides surgical care for children and adolescents with congenital, acute, chronic, and acquired diseases. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics interventions such as minimally invasive surgery, also known as keyhole surgery along with a medical team of surgeons experienced in the surgical interventions of children and adolescents. It also has specialized clinics for dystrophy, hemangioma, and vascular malformations, hydrocephalus and spina bifida, oncology, traumatology, and urology. 
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Martin Lacher, the department performs over 1,800 therapeutic interventions every year. The department is involved in many international cooperation such as the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction of the Ohio State University Columbus, the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well as National Children's Research Centre Dublin to keep itself updated with the latest advancement in the field of pediatric surgery.
