Department of Orthopaedic, Trauma, Spine and Plastic Surgery

Department of Orthopaedic, Trauma, Spine and Plastic Surgery at University Hospital Leipzig provides surgical care for patients with diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system and is composed of 5 specialized areas. 
The Endoprosthetics / Orthopedics unit is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Roth and certified by Endocet due to its high-quality endoprosthetic surgeries.
Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery unit is headed by PD Dr. med. habil. Johannes Fakler and serves as one of the keystones of the department and it is considered as the center of maximum care of its field.
The spinal surgery unit is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Christoph-Eckhard Heyde and offers the full range of surgical interventions in the field of spinal surgery for both congenital and acquired diseases. It is also certified as a Level I Spinal Center by the German Spine Society.
The arthroplasty unit of the department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Pierre Hepp and offers minimally invasive joint surgeries at the highest level. 
The unit of plastic, aesthetic and special hand surgery is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Langer and performs all types of plastic surgeries as well as Post-bariatric Surgery. 
The Department of Orthopaedic, Trauma, Spine and Plastic Surgery treats over 6,500 inpatients every year.
