Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf provides medical care for newborns, children, and adolescents for blood disorders and tumors. The department is the only one in Hamburg and one of the largest centers in Germany of its specialty. The department is in possession of state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics as it’s in association with GPOH. The department excels in the fields of brain tumors, bone tumors, and leukemia. One of the things that make this department remarkable is the stem cell and bone marrow transplantation.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Stefan Rutkowski, the department treats more than 10,000 outpatients as well as 1,300 inpatients every year. The department of pediatric hematology and oncology is conducting multiple trial activities for leukemia, medulloblastoma, and ependymoma.
