Department of Cardiology

Department of Cardiology at University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf provides medical care for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The department has earned worldwide recognition for its success in the invasive and non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular system disorders. The department of cardiology has a special unit for cardiac arrhythmia. Pacemaker and fibrillatory implantations are a great concern of the department as well as research to help enhance their efficacy and reduce complications. Cooperation with other departments helps in providing the best treatment for each patient.
The department of cardiology is a keystone of the University's heart and vascular center where more than 6,000 inpatients are treated under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Stefan Blankenberg. The department has a special unit dedicated to emergency medical care called Chest Pain Unit.
