Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Halle (Saale) provides surgical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The department focuses mainly on minimally invasive techniques to ensure the best operation outcome. Under the leadership of PD Dr. med. habil. Britt Hofmann, the department of cardiac surgery treats more than 1,250 inpatients every year. Coronary heart diseases are one of the main concerns of the department. Screening tests for high-risk cases, management of risk factors before the disease develops and treating the diseases both conservatively and surgically are all provided at the department.
