Department of Pediatric Surgery

Department of Pediatric Surgery at University Hospital Greifswald is a national center that provides surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases from all over Germany. The department is best known for its outstanding efforts and success in newborn surgery, funnel chest, and hypospadias correction.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Winfried Barthlen, the facility was recognized by TÜV Rheinland as a Pain-Free Hospital thanks to its anesthesiology experts who help ease the pain of the children. The department is the top German facility in the field of congenital hyperinsulinism as it's a partner for COACH (Collaborative Alliance on Congenital Hyperinsulinism).
