Department of Otolaryngology

Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospital Greifswald is a Maximum Care Center that provides the full range of medical care for patients with diseases of the ear, nose, and throat. The department has recently moved into the main hospital structure where the medical staff treats about 2,000 inpatients in the 30 beds of the general ward. The institution achieved excellent results in the treatment of congenital hearing disorders as it follows the guidelines of the Federal Joint Committee for the early detection of hearing disorders in newborns.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Werner Hosemann, the department works closely with the Cochlear Implant Center of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (M-V) and so offers the full range of therapeutic measures for hearing disorders. As an advanced facility with state-of-the-art equipment, the sleep laboratory of the department performs about 20 polysomnographic examinations every week.
