Department of Orthopedics at University Hospital Greifswald offers the highest level of conservative and surgical care for patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Under the direction of Prof Dr. med. Georgi Wassilew, the medical team performs the entire spectrum of endoprosthetic interventions for the hips, knees, shoulders, and spine, from treating fractures to joint replacement.
The department has achieved a remarkable reputation for its efforts and success in joint surgery, pediatric orthopedics, tumor surgery, septic surgery, and sports medicine. Of the 1,180 inpatients and 2,000 outpatients who seek the department for medical care every year, some patients are treated thanks to the close cooperation with the Sarcoma Center Berlin-Buch. The North German Hip Dysplasia Center offers the full range of diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of hip dysplasia and other deformities such as femoroacetabular impingement and femoral head necrosis.
