Department of Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital Greifswald is an ultra-modern facility that provides the entire spectrum of the latest diagnostic imaging and image-guided interventions as well as therapeutic measures that are fueled by radioactive pharmaceuticals. The department has made impressive achievements in the fields of therapy for thyroid diseases, stroke, aneurysms and angiomas, diagnostic angiography, diagnostics for breast cancer, stent implantation, balloon dilation, and pain therapy. Nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapeutics can also be of great help as a part of the multimodal tumor therapy plan for the treatment of lung and liver metastases.
Under the guidance of Professor Dr. med. Norbert Hosten, the medical staff works with the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery for the treatment of vascular malformations and brain tumors. The specialists of nuclear medicine work in close cooperation with vascular surgeons in the field of interventional radiology for the treatment of diseases of vessels of the trunk and the lower limb.
