Department of Neurology at University Hospital Greifswald is a facility of maximum care that provides the full spectrum of conservative care for patients with congenital and acquired neurological disorders. The clinic offers the highest level of medical expertise, nursing skills, and modern equipment to ensure optimal care for patients as well as comprehensive, individual management for each patient. The main focuses, in terms of patient care and research activities, are vascular diseases of the nervous systems, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Agnes Flöel, the Stroke Unit has gained the recognition of  the German Stroke Society as a national facility for early stroke treatment
To ensure optimal care for patients, the medical staff works in close cooperation with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Neuropediatrics, Psychiatry, the Institute for Neuropathology & Human Genetics, the Institute for Radiology, and the Greifswald Rehabilitation Center for Paraplegics. Greifswald Epilepsy Center is established by FOCUS Magazine as one of the best facilities in Germany for the treatment of epilepsy as an interdisciplinary approach is taken by neurologists, epileptologist, neuropediatricians, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologist, neurosurgeons, nuclear medicine specialists, neuropathologists, anesthesiologists, medical technical assistants, and epilepsy nurses for better management of epilepsy patients.
