Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Greifswald works in cooperation with specialized facilities to provide optimal care for pregnant women, newborns as well as women with diseases of the reproductive organs. As a known modern facility, the department has with the latest, cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of female reproductive pathologies, high-risk pregnancies, and difficult labor.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Marek Zygmunt, the medical teams of gynecology and obstetrics treat over 4,000 inpatients and deliver about 1,200 newborns every year. The Gynecological Tumor Center follows the latest national and international standards and therapy studies and contributes through patient care, research, and teaching to the German Clinical Competence Center for Genital Sarcomas and Mixed Tumors (DKSM). Both the German Societies for Senology and Cancer have certified the Breast Center Greifswald as it operates according to the guidelines of DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.
