Department of Dermatology at University Hospital Essen provides care for patients with sexually transmitted diseases, skin and allergic disorders The department with its skin tumor cancer care center is certified by TÜV-Süd and OnkoZert, organizations of the German Cancer Society. 
The department consists of a specialized center for sexually transmitted diseases, another for wounds and 68 beds for inpatient care of patients with skin diseases. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Dirk Schadendorf, the department treats more than 4,100 inpatients and nearly 50,000 outpatients every year. About 15 highly experienced doctors and more than 30 medical assistants, along with the help of the qualified medical staff and advanced diagnostics and therapeutics, treat patients with a kind and respectful approach.
