Department of Rheumatology

The University Hospital Düsseldorf department of rheumatology is one of the leading German institutions for the treatment, research, and training in rheumatology. They specialize in the detection and treatment of various bone, joint and autoimmune diseases. These include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis and systemic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma and vasculitis.

The goal of the department is the early disease detection, individually optimized interdisciplinary treatment, the best treatment outcome and the highest possible quality of life for those affected and those involved. The specialists cooperate with many medical disciplines and use state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which they continuously develop.  

The department is home to the headquarters of the largest rheumatism center of the German Society of Rheumatology (DGRh). At the University Hospital Düsseldorf, doctors offer innovative and efficient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the treatment of rheumatic-inflammatory and immunological diseases. They combine experience with current research findings and new techniques, as they are required to give medical care at the highest level.

The department has 24-hour service and an outpatient consultation and treatment unit. In addition, they offer inpatient care as well as physical and rehabilitative treatments.
