The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology deals with all degenerative or congenital disorders of the musculoskeletal system as well as all injuries and injury consequences. The department also specializes in hand surgery and pediatric orthopedics. These focal points are therefore shown separately as further functional areas of the clinic.

In the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, doctors, nurses and therapists work hand in hand across professional groups in order to provide the patients with the best possible care, using current guidelines and the latest research findings. 

The University Hospital Düsseldorf Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology has been certified as a transregional trauma center by the network of the German Society for Trauma Surgery and has been approved by the German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) for serious injury types (SAV Clinic). 

For joint replacement surgery, the Endoprosthetics functional area is certified as the maximum care endoprosthetic center within the scope of the EndoCert initiative of the German Society for Orthopedic and Orthopedic Surgery (DGOOC).
