Department of Hematology, Oncology, and Infectious Diseases at University Hospital Cologne provides care for patients with blood diseases, coagulation disorder, tumors, and infectious diseases. The department has been recognized by the German Accreditation Body as a laboratory for molecular hematology and oncology that focuses on the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the esophagus, stomach, intestine, lung as well as sarcomas. The medical staff has achieved impressive results in the field of oncology that the facility has been certified by the German Cancer Aid and German Cancer Society.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Hallek, the medical staff treats more than 3,000 inpatients every year, many of which receive care in the hematology unit that offers the full range of care for leukemia, lymphoma, and myelodysplastic syndromes, including immunosuppressive therapy.
