Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital Bergmannsheil Bochum provides care for patients with endocrine gland diseases. The endocrinological unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and offers its service on both an inpatient and outpatient basis for the treatment of hormonal disbalance. The diabetology unit is certified by the German Diabetes Association and is also involved in the Working Group on Diabetic Foot of the German Diabetes Association. FOCUS Magazine has also recognized it as one of the best facilities in Germany to treat diabetes mellitus
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Horst Harald Klein, the department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital Bergmannsheil Bochum treats 650 inpatients every year. The department also offers a full range of kidney replacement therapy such as hemodialysis and hemofiltration and has a recognized intensive care unit where critical cases are managed.
