Department of Cardiology and Angiology at University Hospital Bergmannsheil Bochum provides care for patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessels. The department is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory where all minimally invasive procedures for the heart and blood vessels are performed to perfection. The cardiac unit works in cooperation with the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and directs special attention to the treatment of heart failure. The unit also offers therapeutic measures such as implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators for severe arrhythmias and percutaneous aortic valve replacement for aortic valve defects.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Andreas Mügge, the department of Cardiology and Angiology at University Hospital Bergmannsheil Bochum treats over 2,200 inpatients every year. FOCUS Magazine has recognized Dr. Mügge as one of the best physicians in his field in Germany.
