Department of Gastroenterology, Nephrology, and Endocrinology (Internal medicine I)

The Department of internal medicine I (gastroenterology, nephrology, metabolism, endocrinology) at the university hospital of Ulm offers prevention, examination and treatment of gastroenterological, nephrological, metabolical, and endocrinological diseases at the university level.

The division of Gastroenterology focuses on the treatment of stomach, liver, pancreas and bowel diseases.
The division also has its own gastrointestinal oncological unit which treats the benign and malignant diseases of gastroenterological organs.

The division of Nephrology focuses on acute and chronic renal diseases, rheumatic diseases associated with kidney, hypertension, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and transplantation.

The division of endocrinology and metabolism deals with diseases of the endocrine glands (pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, adrenals, sex glands) and metabolic disorders.

The department treats more than 5000 cases inpatient with different pathologies.
