Department of Cardiology

Department of Cardiology at Helios Hospital Munich West provides complete care for patients with congenital and acquired diseases of the cardiovascular system, both acute and chronic. The department a specialized Chest Pain Unit where the care of patients with suspected circulatory disorders of the heart, such as a heart attack is offered. The department also mainly focuses on the treatment of diseases of the coronary vessels and heart valves, cardiac arrhythmias as well as myocardial infarctions, both acute and chronic. The department works closely with the Department of Emergency Medicine. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Christopher Reithmann, the department treats around 3,200 inpatients every year, over 500 of which suffer from some type of arrhythmia and require implantations. Dr. Reithmann is among the excellent doctors featured in PRIMO MEDICO, the network for medical specialists in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The department provides electrophysiological examinations for the analysis of cardiac arrhythmias and it also offers both ablation and the implantation of the pacemakers and defibrillators to treat them.
