Department of General, Visceral, and Oncological Surgery at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch provides the surgical care required for patients with diseases of the abdominal organs as well as tumors of the body. The department is a modern facility that constantly looking for innovative surgical techniques and performs as many minimally invasive procedures as possible. The main focus is directed towards the management of abdominal metastases and sarcomas as a certified center by the German Cancer Society. The facility is also concerned with peritoneal tumors and it provides the most advanced therapy for these tumors, such as hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). As for the treatment of cancer, the medical team works in close cooperation with specialists in chemotherapy and radiation therapy to provide patients with optimal care. 
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Martin Strik, the staff treats over 2,500 inpatients every year, 500 of which suffer from morbid obesity. The department is also concerned with hepatobiliary surgery to treat liver cancer, cirrhosis, fatty liver, gallstones, bile duct stenosis, and bile duct tumors. It offers a full range of therapeutic options such as tumor resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiofrequency ablation.
