Department of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology

Department of pediatric surgery and pediatric urology treats children and adolescents with all kind of diseases requiring surgical care. The main focus of the department is congenital malformations, abdominal diseases, pediatric urology (surgery of the urinary tract) and tumor surgery.  Another focus is the treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations. The Department has specialized inpatient accommodations available for young patients where they can live together with a parent, in the child-friendly wards and are cared for by child caregivers. The operating rooms are well equipped with state-of-the-art equipment so that it can carry out many procedures minimally invasively. Laser medicine represents another building block of gentle treatment options offered by the department. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Udo Rolle more than 600 operations are carried out at the department yearly.
