Department of Orthopedics with paraplegic center

The department of orthopedics with a paraplegic center at the university hospital of Ulm cares for all patients with congenital or acquired disorders of the musculoskeletal system as a maximum care clinic. It offers the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options available today in the orthopedic field to maintain, restore and improve the function of the musculoskeletal system.

The Orthopedic Clinic covers the entire range of conservative and operative orthopedics, including specialized orthopedic pain management, acute care and long-term care of paraplegic patients.

The clinic is actively involved in the development of the field of orthopedics. Minimally invasive and computer-assisted surgical procedures, as well as modern osteosynthesis procedures, are used and co-developed.
Every year, around 12,000 outpatients and 3,500 inpatients are treated in the department of orthopedics. In four modern operating theaters around 3500 surgical interventions are carried out. This makes the Orthopedic department one of the largest and most powerful orthopedic department in Germany.
