Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital Bonn provides care for children and adolescents suffering from tumors, leukemia as well as blood and immune system disorders. The cooperation with the Institute for Experimental Hematology and Transfusion Medicine allows this department to treat children with bleeding disorders. This department is highly ranked as it’s a part of the Society of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology and the International Society of Pediatric Hematology.
With Prof. Dr. med. Dagmar Dilloo as the head of the department, more than 650 patients are treated there annually. This department has certification from the German Cancer Society as well as Ausgezeichnet für kinder. The medical staff is trained to treat the patients with the ultimate care and kindness as tumors and blood disorders have a negative psychological impact on children and adolescents. Ongoing studies are conducted by the research unit of this department especially towards immunotherapy for recurrent and resistant diseases and also brain tumors.
