Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Bonn offers the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired defects of the heart and the near blood vessels. The full spectrum of operations is provided to all ages in this department except for thoracic organ transplantation as it is performed in the Transplantation Center. The department is one of the main facilities of the Heart Center Bonn.
With Prof. Dr. med. Hendrik Treede as the head of the department, more than 750 inpatients are treated here annually. Due to its experienced medical staff and the cooperation with the departments of Prenatal Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology, the department is considered the best Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Unit in Bonn.
