Department of Neurosurgery at University Hospital Bonn provides the surgical care required by patients with neurological diseases. In Germany, it’s one of the leading medical facilities of its specialty. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Hartmut Vatter, more than 2,500 procedures are performed and about 1,800 inpatients are treated in this department every year.
The department consists of a surgical area composed of 4 operating rooms, an intensive care unit and 3 stations with beds for inpatient care. The department has specialties as epilepsy surgery, tumor surgery, vascular surgery as well as pediatric neurosurgery. The research activities of this department are recognized especially in the fields of aneurysms and epilepsy with many published journals. For its successful history in Oncological Neurosurgery, the department is certified by the Center of Competence.
