Department of Heart and Vascular Diseases at University Hospital Stuttgart, located at the Katharinen Hospital, offers the maximum care for patients with diseases of the heart and the blood vessels. The certified chest unit is available around the clock to provide acute medical care for patients with heart attacks. The department is one of the first facilities in Baden-Württemberg to be certified by the German Society for Cardiology for Special Rhythmology for its spectacular achievements and success in the management of cardiac arrhythmia. The unit has state-of-the-art electrophysiological diagnostics and provides therapy according to the latest guidelines and scientific findings for patients with all types of rhythm disorders.
Under the management of Prof. Dr. Thomas Nordt, the medical team performs around 300 cardiac MRIs every year to detect aneurysm, tumors, congenital defects, or vascular disorders. The department works in close cooperation with the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology of Katharinen Hospital to ensure optimal care for patients of vascular diseases and to carry out endovascular stent prostheses, such as carotid artery stent implantations.
