The Rechts der Isar Department of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery enjoys an excellent reputation both nationally and internationally. The goals of the department include providing the best possible medical care for patients, contributing to medical knowledge through a wide range of innovative research and training future experts and leaders in the field. Every year, the department presents its research results at numerous congresses worldwide.
The department is directed by Prof. Dr. med. Hans-Günther Machens. It consists of 16 highly qualified doctors and covers a wide range of plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic surgery and hand surgery in Munich with the use of cutting-edge technology. The department offers all kinds of plastic reconstructive surgery and plastic-aesthetic surgery and is also specialized in hand surgery. Some of their services include tissue transplantation, joint replacement of fingers, hand, and arm and classical cosmetic surgery. Some of their most common procedures include Temporary soft tissue coverage, surgical wound debridement, and other operations on the locomotor system. The department has also achieved good results in innovative regenerative therapies.
The 16-member medical team of the plastic surgery department relies on two fully equipped operating rooms, with state-of-the-art modern facilities. The department also has an outpatient surgery room and provides 24-hour on-call service including an implantation service for all emergency related emergencies.
