Department of General Pediatrics

Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital Muenster provides medical care for children and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. Along with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics, the department has an extraordinary medical staff due to which the department is recognized for its top-notch care quality. It is one of the first facilities in Germany to receive certification from Ausgezeichnet für Kinder.
The department has the Center for Rare Diseases where the doctors who are specialized in pediatric rare diseases treat children and adolescents suffering from rare diseases as Goodpasture Syndrome. With Prof. Dr. med. Heymut Omran as the head of the department, nearly 3,000 inpatients get treated here every year. The department has a research unit that specifically runs clinical and basic research on congenital metabolic and neurological disorders.
