Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergology at University Hospital Mannheim provides care for patients with skin conditions, allergies, and sexually transmitted diseases. The spectrum of the department includes general dermatology, special consultations for complex and severe skin diseases, surgical treatment of dermatological disorders as well as skin tumors. The department is recognized as the Center of Excellence of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and also it is a member of the Center for Rare Diseases (ZSE) and its Skin Cancer Center is in cooperation with the Dermato-Oncology Unit at the German Cancer Research Center.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Sergius Goerdt, the department treats over 3,100 inpatients every year, many of which are skin cancer patients. The department composes of Skin Cancer Center, 2 stations, a general skin clinic, another for allergy and occupational dermatology, an emergency room as well as a day hospital.
