Department of Nephrology, Hypertension, Endocrinology, Diabetology, and Rheumatology at University Hospital Mannheim provides care for patients with kidney and endocrine glands diseases as well as rheumatological diseases. The department is equipped with the latest cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for various diseases. The department is a certified Hypertensive Center of Excellence, Hypertension Center DHL, a Kidney Transplantation Center by the DGfN and also it is a member of the Center for Rare Diseases Mannheim.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Bernhard Krämer, the department treats over 2,000 patients every year, many of which suffer from acute or chronic renal failure. Dr. Krämer has been recognized by FOCUS Magazine as one of the best specialists in the field of hypertension and nephrology. The department is in cooperation with the Transplant Center Mannheim where kidney transplants are performed with post-mortem organ donation as well as living donations and it follows the latest surgical techniques and technology for such procedures.
