Department of Hematology and Oncology

Department of Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital Mannheim provides care for patients with disorders of blood coagulation and malignant diseases of the blood. The department offers its inpatient and outpatient service for patients with various diseases of the blood as well as malignant tumors. The department consists of a hematological clinic, clinic for bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, general wards for patients, as well as a day Therapy Center, and it has a great medical staff composed of 40 doctors and a large number of qualified nurses. The department mainly focuses on the treatment of intense diseases such as leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndrome as well as malignant diseases of the lymph nodes.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Wolf-Karsten Hofmann, the department treats over 3,000 patients every year, many of which suffer from bone marrow and lymph node cancer. Dr. Hofmann has been recognized as one of the best specialists in the field in Germany by FOCUS Magazine.
