Department of Trauma Surgery at University Hospital Magdeburg provides surgical care for patients with multiple trauma as well as spinal, pelvic, and limb injuries. As a Center of Maximum Care for patients of Magdeburg and the northern Saxony-Anhalt, the facility works in close cooperation with many specialized departments of the University Hospital, like the Department of Orthopedics and Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery to ensure patients get high-level quality care. The department has been certified by the German Society of Trauma Surgery and recognized by FOCUS Magazine as one of the best medical facilities in Germany of its specialty.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Felix Walcher, the medical team treats over 1,400 inpatients every year, treats complex cartilage diseases, and performs joint replacement procedures. The facility is well-known for its efforts and achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and polytrauma of the bone, soft tissue, abdominal organs as well as thoracic organs.
