Prof. Dr. med. Michael Kreißl, born in 1974, after studying medicine in Würzburg, started working as an assistant doctor at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Nuclear Medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg in 2000 and received his doctorate in 2003. This was followed by a two-year research stay at the University of California, Los Angeles. After his return, he was appointed senior physician at the clinic in 2007, following his specialist certification, and in 2012 moved to the clinic for nuclear medicine at the Augsburg Clinic as a senior physician. He completed his habilitation in 2014 at the University of Würzburg.
In his scientific work, he focuses, among other things, on translational molecular imaging and the establishment/evaluation of new nuclear medicine therapy methods. Prof. Kreißl is a proven expert in the treatment of thyroid carcinoma and especially advanced cases. In addition to his work in various expert forums on thyroid diseases, he is also active as a reviewer for numerous specialist journals.
Prof. Kreißl would like to expand the focus on thyroid/thyroid carcinoma at the University Hospital and strengthen the new, molecularly oriented nuclear medicine therapy methods, as well as local therapeutic interdisciplinary treatment methods. Prof. Kreißl attaches particular importance to his work in Magdeburg on research projects related to neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. Another focus is on the further expansion of multimodal hybrid imaging (SPECT / CT, PET / CT, PET / MR).
