Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Medicine at University Hospital Magdeburg provides care for inpatients and outpatients with reproductive organ diseases, before, during, and after the pregnancy. The experienced team of doctors has achieved impressive results in the diagnosis and treatment of high-risk pregnancy, breast tumors, as well as pelvic organ diseases such as uterine fibroids and ovarian cancer. The gynecology unit has its operation rooms where surgeons perform inpatient and outpatient procedures. The remarkable Breast Cancer has many medical facilities working closely for accurate and early detection, effective treatment, reconstructive surgery, and psychological support for patients with breast cancer. The general wards have 15 beds where patients are prepared for surgery and taken care of afterward. The Gynecological Oncology Ward, composed of 12 rooms with 22 beds, is in cooperation with the Breast Center and Oncology Clinic.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Serban Dan Costa, the medical staff treats over 3,700 inpatients and delivers about 800 newborns every year. The obstetrics unit is concerned with providing care for mothers during pregnancy and delivery as well.
