Department of Neurosurgery at University Hospital Magdeburg provides surgical care for patients with acute and chronic diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. The facility has achieved impressive results in vascular neurosurgery, skull base surgery, brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, spinal column, pediatric neurosurgery, peripheral nerves, neurotrauma, epilepsy, and intensive neuro-care.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Erol Sandalcioglu, the medical team treats about 1,500 inpatients every year, with the help of various departments of the university hospital. The pediatric neurosurgery unit works in close cooperation with the Children’s Hospital and mainly focuses on tumors of the brain and spinal cord as well as malformations of the brain, the brain chamber system, and the skull bone.
