Department of Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital Magdeburg provides care for patients with organ cancer as well as blood malignancies and clotting disorders. The department is in close cooperation with other departments to ensure patients get specialists’ care in every step of the management plan for both inpatients and outpatients. The facility has the latest, cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics as a certified center for hematological diagnostics.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr.med. Thomas Fischer, the medical team has achieved great success in the management of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, sarcoma, and solid tumors as it treats over 1,000 patients every year. The research unit has many basic research projects and clinical trials running in close cooperation with many organizations such as the German Study Group Gastrointestinal lymphoma (GSGL), German Hodgkin Study Group (DHSG), and The European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).
