Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital Magdeburg provides care for children and adolescents with congenital, acquired, acute and chronic diseases of the body systems. The main clinical focuses of the facility are neonatology, pediatric neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, diabetology, hematology, and oncology as well as rheumatology. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Peter Vorwerk, the medical team offers care for 5,000 outpatients and 3,000 inpatients every year in the outpatient clinics and the general wards with a bed capacity of 80 beds, 16 of which are for the intensive care unit. As a Perinatal Center Level I, the department has the medical experience of the staff alongside the state-of-the-art equipment that allows for the management of 80 preterm infants annually.
