Department of Pediatric Surgery at University Hospital Heidelberg provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases requiring surgical intervention. The department has state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics that help the staff properly treat about 1,500 inpatients every year.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Patrick Günther, the department is known to be one of the few facilities in Germany that surgically intervenes with the fetus in the womb. To ensure optimal care for more patients, the department works in cooperation with the Departments of General Pediatrics and Pediatric Radiology.
