Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Heidelberg provides surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart diseases. The department consists of operating rooms, a catheter laboratory, and an intensive care unit. All units are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to accurately diagnose, properly monitor, and effectively treat patients.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Tsvetomir Loukanov, the department treats more than 4,000 inpatients and performs 300 procedures every year. The research unit of the department works on research projects in the area of pulmonary hypertension, heart surgery in small for gestational age children, and aortic surgery.

The Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Heidelberg is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of:
