Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospital Heidelberg provides care for women during their reproductive and pregnancy periods as well as newborns. Every year, the staff treats over 7,000 inpatients for high-risk pregnancies, inflammatory, degenerative, and neoplastic diseases of the female genital organs, and newborns diseases. As a facility worth being a member of the National Cancer Center, management plans are tailor-made for each patient by the medical staff to achieve the optimal result of the treatment.
The department is headed by Prof. Dr. Med. Christof Sohnand is considered to be one of the largest medical facilities in Germany by FOCUS Magazine, in the field of obstetrics and breast cancer treatment. The department through the latest, most advanced equipment and techniques, offers prenatal, natal, and postnatal care with a successful delivery rate reaches up to 1,250 births every year.
