Department of Neurology
Department of Neurology at University Hospital Heidelberg provides care for patients with central and peripheral nervous system diseases as well as neuromuscular disorders. The department consists of an emergency unit as well as seven state-of-the-art stations composed of 116 beds where the medical team treats over 8,000 inpatients and 23,000 outpatients annually.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Wolfgang Wick, the department is not only an internationally pioneering center in the field of neuro-oncology but also is a part of the National Center for Tumor Diseases Heidelberg. Every year, about 4,000 patients of neurological tumors seek the neuro-oncology unit as their treatment destination. The neuro-immunology team is a member of the Research in Multiple Sclerosis and the German Cancer Research Center.
