Department of General Pediatrics
Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital Heidelberg provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. The department offers its service on both an outpatient and inpatient basis as it treats more than 4,000 inpatients every year, about 13% of patients suffer from epilepsy and intracranial masses and therefore get treated in the neurology unit.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Med. Georg Friedrich Hoffmann, the department is involved in the Center for Rare Diseases to provide optimal care for patients with such diseases. The research unit is mainly concerned with the neurological, hormonal, and nephrological pathologies in children and adolescents.

- Since 1999, Professor of General Pediatrics and Chief Physician of the Department of General Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Metabolic Disorders, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology at the University Hospital Heidelberg.
