Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Heidelberg provides surgical care for patients with congenital and acquired heart diseases. The department is recognized to be one of the best medical facilities in the field in Germany. The medical staff treats over 1,250 inpatients and performs about 2,500 procedures every year while using the latest diagnostics, monitoring equipment, therapeutics to ensure patients get optimal care.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Matthias Karck, the department has achieved excellent results in the fields of aortic surgery, bypass grafting, and heart transplantation.

The Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Heidelberg is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of:
